My Story
I am a Boston native who has spent the last 15 years traveling the country in search of greater purpose. I have lived in upstate New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia, yet could not help finding my way back to Boston; the city I know and love.
I have worked in a variety of industries, in varying capacities, for incredibly distinct individuals. Each experience has added to my own personal lens and served to shape a greater understanding of how to achieve personal and professional success through focusing on three distinct, and yet interdependent factors: People, Purpose, and Process.
My Philosophy
I spent much of the last 15 years, moving about the country, learning how the world works. What I have discovered in my travels and investigations is a simple fact: WE ARE ALL BORN MYOPIC. Yes, all of us, even those who have never worn glasses. At birth we naturally begin to combat this myopia through a lens, a lens that is uniquely our own. This lens is initially formed by our family, if we are lucky enough to have one, and further influenced by factors such as education, geographic location, community, and social interaction. It becomes the basis for how we see the world and the way in which we interact with others in it. It is what we carry with us into our personal relationships, our family life, and most importantly our work. I say most importantly because on average Americans spend 90,000 hours of their life at work, often with those of different backgrounds, races, sexes, religions, and beliefs.
However, this lens is not quiescent! As we age we have the opportunity to control the curvature of this lens, to define its focus, evolve its depth, fine-tune its clarity. The challenge we face is that all of us choose different paths to gather this new found sight, often diverging from common ground. Additionally, our attempts at resolving this myopia may have had a reverse effect and served to narrow our purview as we define our focus. I have found, it is not that individuals are either right or wrong, good or bad, pessimistic or optimistic, but rather the lens they are looking through simply has formed different than others.
When we look at the world, our friends, family, and co-workers through this philosophy we can then understand that all that is needed to find common ground is to find a common lens. Much like an optometrist in an eye exam tries on different lenses until clarity is achieved, so must we do for ourselves and others. Through exploration, education, and experience we can evolve our understanding of our own perceptions and ascend to new ways of interacting with others, achieving our goals, and finding greater purpose.
My Mission
In the service of my philosophy, my mission is to work with others, both teams and individuals, to evolve and shape their lens within their place of work. Whether that be through individual coaching, team workshops, organizational introspection and redesign, or project, program & product management best practices.
